JEWISH NOW PLEDGE
Together, we have the power to shape the Jewish Future.
ABOUT THE PLEDGE
The Jewish NOW Pledge (JNP) is a national movement inspiring young Jews of all backgrounds to step up into nonprofit volunteer leadership and board service in the Jewish community. Developed in partnership with the Jewish Future Pledge and inspired by the Gates and Buffet Giving Pledge, this movement is nurturing a culture and community of next-gen volunteer leadership, board service, and philanthropy.

WHY A JEWISH NOW PLEDGE
The Jewish community is not sufficiently developing, networking, or advancing the next generation of lay leaders. This pledge aims to shift the norms of Jewish philanthropy and inspire a younger generation to step into lay leadership now.
This is not just a pledge, but a movement. All signatories are given no-fee access to Jewish Now Pledge network gatherings, lay leadership trainings, and board matching services.
WHAT IS THE PLEDGE
I HEREBY PLEDGE…
1) to serve on a Jewish nonprofit board, junior board, or committee. I will dedicate my time, talent, and treasure to support Jewish communal organizations through lay leadership today and into the future.
2) to commit to a multi-year financial gift to a nonprofit organization I care about which works to strengthen and serve the Jewish people.
CYJP BOARDMATCHING PORTAL
Making the Jewish Now Pledge a reality
A data-driven matchmaking tool to ensure every Jewish nonprofit across the country enlists a new generation of lay leaders, board members, and philanthropists. We bring young leaders and Jewish nonprofits together to ensure everyone in their 20s, 30s, and early 40s has the opportunity to serve the Jewish community through lay leadership.
-
Our sophisticated platform automatically analyzes every new candidate and measures their professional qualifications, interests, and capacities. Participating organizations complete a survey about their culture, needs, and board requirements. CYJP then uses this data-driven approach to identify matches and make tailored introductions between thousands of next-gen leaders and hundreds of Jewish nonprofits across the country.
-
The Jewish community has a lay leadership “matchmaking” problem which severely impacts the next generation of Jewish leaders and threatens the future of American Jewish communal life. For every one of the 9,500 Jewish nonprofit organizations in search of board members and donors, there are just as many, if not more, young lay leaders hungry for meaningful service opportunities. But until now, there was no central address for lay talent to research board opportunities or for organizations to identify those leaders. The problem is not one of supply and demand, but of connecting the supply with the demand.
For our community to adapt into the 21st century, young and diverse lay leaders must be engaged today.
-
It can be difficult to find an organization that fits your values and capacities. Whether you are interested in joining a 20s & 30s committee / Young Leadership board, a fiduciary Board of Directors, or a leadership development fellowship, it can be hard to know where to start. Serving as a lay leader offers tremendous opportunities for personal and professional development and giving back. We are taking the pain out of the process. If you take a few minutes to register on this platform, our software and team will do the rest.
-
Strong organizations require capable and diverse boards. But it can be hard to identify new board members and donors, especially from younger demographics. Identifying new leaders, especially outside of your network, is difficult. CYJP believes multigenerational boards more effectively serve organizations than monolithic ones, and we want to ensure every Jewish nonprofit in the country has access to incredible young lay leaders. You tell us about your work, needs, and board requirements and we will come to you with candidate profiles of young leaders who are a match. As the pool of candidates grows, we will reach back out to you with more candidates.
